“Xalqın şahzadəsi” Diana Parisdə avtomobil qəzasında həlak olur. Kraliça və ailəsi bir müddət Balmoral qəsrinin qapalı qapıları arxasında yas saxlamağa üstünlük verirlər. Qəlbi qırıq xalq bu münasibəti anlaya bilmir və Kraliçadan açıqlama gözləyir. Bu vəziyyət hələ yeni seçilmiş baş nazir Toni Bleyer üzərində də təzyiq yaradır. Variety-dən Derek Ellinin dediyi kimi, “ənənə ilə yeniliyin toqquşduğu, eyni zamanda bir-birindən bəhrələndiyi məharətlə yazılmış və oynanılmış” bir filmdir The Queen.
