Aşağı səviyyəli və sensasiyalı verilişlərə üstünlük verən ucuz bir televiziya kanalının rəhbəri olan Maks Renn, reytinqləri yüksəldəcək yeni bir proqram axtararkən təsadüfən qeyri-adi bir qanunsuz yayına rast gəlir. "Videodrome" adlı bu gizli yayım, ilk baxışdan real qətlləri nümayiş etdirən bir "snuff" televiziya proqramı təəssüratı yaradır. Videodrome-un dərinliklərinə endikcə, şüuraltını sarsıdan görüntülər, texnologiyaya pərəstiş, sado-mazoxizm və erotik məzmunlu yayımlar Maksın peşəkar marağını şəxsi bir obsesiyaya çevirir.
