Allan keçirdiyi ağır qəzadan sonra əlil arabasına məhkum olur və tamamilə başqalarının köməyinə möhtac qalır. Dostu Geoffrey ona kömək etmək üçün laboratoriyadan Ella adlı bir meymun oğurlayır. Lakin Ella adi meymun deyil; o, insan beyni hüceyrələri yeridilmiş meymunlar üzərində aparılan bir təcrübənin məhsuludur. Ella Allanın hisslərini anlaya və onlara reaksiya verə bilir, lakin heyvani instinktlərini də qoruyub saxlayır. Çox keçmədən o, Allanın əli-ayağına çevrilir.
