Babası tərəfindən şiddət görən Duqlas evdən qovulur və köpəklərə yem kimi atılır. Lakin gözlənilənin əksinə, köpəklər ona hücum etmək əvəzinə, onu qoruyur və ən yaxın dostlarına çevrilirlər. İllər keçdikcə köpəklərlə bağını möhkəmləndirən və onları sanki öz ordusuna çevirən Duqlas, bu xüsusi bacarığından istifadə edərək sadəcə sağ qalmaqla kifayətlənmir; sistemə qarşı çıxaraq oyunun qaydalarını yenidən yazır.
