Kristin McKay və James Hoyt cütlüyü dostlarının toy mərasimindən döndüklərinin axşamı, James'in ailəsinin təsnif evində bir gecəni keçirməyi planlaşdırırlar. Romantik başlayan gecə, kim olduğu məlum olmayan üç şəxsin görünüşü ilə dəhşətə çevrilir. Onların təhlükəsiz hesab etdikləri ev, bu maskeli yabancılar tərəfindən terror məkanına çevrilər. Rejissor və ssenariist Bryan Bertino'nun uşaqlığında yaşadığı hadisədən ilhamlanaraq ssenariu yazıb. Həmçinin Liv Tyler əvvəlcə bu cür bir gərintifilm rolunda oynamadığı üçün xüsusi şəkildə seçilib.
