Juilliard-da təhsilinin ikinci ilində şizofreniyaya tutulan musiqi dahisi Nathaniel Ayers, xəstəliyinin şiddətlənməsi nəticəsində evsiz qalaraq Los-Anceles küçələrinə düşür. Kamança və violonçel çalaraq həyatını davam etdirməyə çalışan Ayersin taleyi zamanla dəyişməyə başlayır. Robert Downey Jr.-ın canlandırdığı Stiv Lopez obrazının real həyatda yazdığı kitab əsasında çəkilən film, həmçinin rolu üçün çoxlu violonçel dərsləri alan, Oskar mükafatlı metod aktyoru Ceymi Foksla da diqqət çəkir.
