Ellen adlı naməlum bir qadın silahşor, yalnız özünün bildiyi bir səbəblə kiçik bir qəsəbəyə gəlir. Gəlişindən qısa müddət sonra Cort adlı keşiş barın qapısından çölə atılır və qəsəbə sakinləri silahlı yarışma üçün qeydiyyatdan keçməyə başlayırlar. Mükafat kifayət qədər yüksəkdir və tək bir qayda var: yarışmanı təşkil edən Herodun qaydaları. Herod eyni zamanda qəsəbənin sahibi, lideri və ağasıdır. Bütün bu baş verənlərin arxasında yatan sirr isə açılmağını gözləyir.
