Bir əfsanə, kəşfiyyatçı, xəyalpərəst, cəsur, dənizlər fatehi... Ömrünü dənizlərə həsr edən və bu mavi sonsuzluğu özünə yuva bilən, dünyaca məşhur "Kapitan" Jak-İv Kustonun oğlu Filipplə olan münasibəti filmin mərkəzində dayanır. 1946-cı ildə uşaqkən atası ilə ilk dəfə dənizə dalan Filipp, 10 il sonra məşhur "Kalipso" gəmisində atası ilə yenidən, bu dəfə bir yetkin kimi qarşılaşır. Lakin beynəlxalq şöhrətdən sonra kapitan çox dəyişib, insanlara qəlsəmə taxmaq kimi çılğın fikirlərə düşüb.
