Kino tənqidçilərinə görə 2001-ci ilin ən yaxşı filmi. Baş qəhrəman Ed Crane (Billy Bob Thornton) yoxluğu, laqeydliyi, ruhsuzluğu, asan inandırılması və ən əsası, idarəni heç vaxt əlində saxlamaması, hətta özünün belə orada olmaması ilə kino tarixinin ən müstəsna obrazlarından biridir. Sanki yoxdur! "Orada Olmayan Adam" Ed-in onu aldadan arvadı Dorisə (Frances McDormand) etdiyi şantaj əks nəticə verir və adam öldürməyə qədər gedən yolda daha qaranlıq sirlərlə üzləşir.
