Grace və Jim universitetdə oxuyan iki sevgilidir. Semestr tətilində köhnə model avtomobillərinə minib maraqlı bir səyahətə çıxmağı planlaşdırırlar. Yola çıxdıqları gecə leysan yağış yağır. Yol kənarında islanmış vəziyyətdə avtostop edən John-u görəndə onu maşına almağa qərar verirlər. Lakin bu, onların həyatlarının ən böyük səhvi olacaq. John-un əsl psixopat olduğunu anlamaları çox çəkmir. O, arxasında çoxlu cəsəd qoymuş qatil bir psixopatdır. Grace və Jim-i vəhşicəsinə öldürmək üçün qurduğu planlar tam reallaşmaq üzrə ikən gözlənilməz hadisələr baş verir. Grace və Jim bir tərəfdən sağ qalmaq üçün mübarizə apararkən, digər tərəfdən də John-un onları sürüklədiyi bəlalardan qurtulmağa çalışacaqlar.
