23-cü əsr, Nyu-York. Dünya məhv olmaq ərəfəsindədir. Hər 5000 ildən bir geri qayıdaraq həyatı məhv etməyə çalışan şeytani qüvvə, planet şəklində sürətlə dünyaya yaxınlaşır. Yeganə xilas yolu, beşinci element adlandırılan və nə olduğu heç kimə məlum olmayan sirli gücün dünyaya çatmasıdır.
