Nyu-Yorklu moda dizayneri Melani Karmaikl gözlənilmədən şəhərin ən arzuolunan subaylarından biri ilə nişanlanır. Lakin Melaninin keçmişində bir çox sirlər gizlənir; bunlardan biri də hələ də rəsmi boşanmadığı, orta məktəb illərində evləndiyi əri Cekdir. Keçmişi ilə birdəfəlik vidalaşmaq və münasibətlərinə son qoymaq üçün Melani doğulub boya-başa çatdığı Alabamaya doğru yola düşür.
