Madrasda kasıb bir ailədə doğulub böyüyən, yaxşı təhsil almamış Srinivasa Ramanujan riyaziyyata böyük maraq göstərir və öz işlərini Kembric Universitetinə göndərir. Bu işlərdən çox təsirlənən G.H. Hardy gənc dahini universitetə dəvət edir. Bütün ömrünü keçirdiyi ölkəni və sevdiyi qadını geridə qoyaraq İngiltərəyə gələn Ramanujan həm alışmadığı akademik dünyaya uyğunlaşmağa, həm də Birinci Dünya Müharibəsinin ağırlığını hiss edən ölkədə irqçiliklə mübarizə aparmağa çalışacaq.
