Bir vaxtlar Oscar namizədi olmuş, lakin artıq keçmiş şöhrətini itirmiş rejissor Viktor Taranski (Al Paçino), son filminin çəkilişləri zamanı kaprizli baş rol ifaçısı Nikola Anders ilə mübahisə edir. Keçmiş həyat yoldaşı və studiya rəhbəri Eleyn tərəfindən işdən çıxarılan Viktorun, keçmiş arvadı və qızı Leyni ilə yenidən xoşbəxt bir həyat sürmək ümidi də puç olur.
