Jordan Belfort 24 yaşında genç və ambisiyöz bir adamdır. Pul qazanma istəyi ilə Wall Street borsasında əvvəlcə broker, sonra Stratton Oakmont adlı bir investisiya şirkətində varlı olmaq üçün hər şeyə hazır CEO olur. 90-ların ən sürətli günləridir və New York ticarət zalında hər şey mümkündür. Əhəmiyyətsiz istiqrazlarla bir çox investoru aldataraq Belfort qısa müddətdə pul maşinasına və eyni zamanda xərcləmə maşinasına çevrilir. Bir günə hesablarda milyonlarla dolları yığarkan, o gecə hamısını eyni sürətlə xərcləyə bilər. Peşəkar həyatının kənara qoyulduğu, narkotika, fahişələr və həddindən artıq bahalı lüks fantaziyalarla dolu çirkli oyunun içində yer alır. Bu karakterin həyatındakı hər şey müfərrəhləşdirilmiş şəkildə davam edərkən, düşüş isə o qədər də uzaq deyildir.
