Beat nəslinin atası Jack Kerouac-ın 1947-ci ildə başladığı və üç il davam edən uzun səyahətinin "Yolda" romanına çevrilmiş versiyasının kino uyarlaması olan bu filmdə, Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund) və Sal Paradise (Sam Riley) Beat Nəslinin bir növ portretini yaradırlar. "O"nu tapmaq üçün çıxdıqları axtarış, ABŞ-ı başdan-başa keçdikləri, həm zirvəni, həm də dibi gördükləri uzun və həyəcanlı bir yol macərasına çevrilir.
