1950-ci illərin Nyu-Yorkunda cərəyan edən "Motherless Brooklyn" filmi, Turett sindromundan əziyyət çəkən Lionel Essroq adlı bir detektivin hekayəsindən bəhs edir. Essroq bir tərəfdən sindromun yaratdığı qəfil tiklərlə mübarizə apararkən, digər tərəfdən dostu Frenk Minnanın ölümünü araşdırmalıdır. Əlində cəmi bir neçə ipucu və saat kimi işləyən zəkası olan Lionel, bütün şəhərin tarazlığını qoruyan sirləri açmaq üçün çətin bir yola çıxır.
