Federico Fellini-nin məşhur "Səkkiz yarım" filminin Hollivud versiyası... Yaradıcılıq və şəxsi həyatı böhran içində olan rejissor Guido, son filminin çəkilişlərini yarımçıq qoymaq üzrədir. Problemlərindən qaçmağa çalışarkən, ətrafındakı bir çox gözəl qadınla yaşadığı çətin münasibətlər labirintində itib-batır. Məşuqəsi, həyat yoldaşı, ilham pərisi, köməkçisi, şıltaq bir müxbir, müəllimi və anası ilə həyatını bölüşən Guido, uçurumun kənarında bir çıxış yolu axtarır. O, bir sənətkarın dramını özünəməxsus dili ilə gözlər önünə sərir.
