Zarafətli, ağıllı və 5 metr boyunda olan əfsanəvi qoril Co və onun ən yaxın dostu Cill Yanq (Şarliz Teron) Afrikanın ucqar dağlarında birlikdə böyüyüblər. Conun dinc həyatı brakonyerlərin hücumuna məruz qaldıqda, Cill və zooloq Qreq O'Hara (Bill Pakston) öz günahsız dostlarını xilas edirlər. Onu Kaliforniyadakı bir heyvan sığınacağına aparırlar. Lakin Conun təhlükəsizliyi uzun sürmür. Onun haqqında yayılan şayiələr Conu keçmişdən gələn bir düşməninin hədəfinə çevirir; nəyin bahasına olursa-olsun nəhəng Conu ələ keçirməyə çalışan amansız bir ovçu!
