Lee və Bessie illər əvvəl yolları ayrılmış iki bacıdır. Lee Ohio-da yaşamaq üçün evi tərk etmiş, Bessie isə atası Marvin və onun ekssentrik bacısı Ruth-a baxmaq üçün Florida-dakı ata evinə qayıtmışdır. Bir sıra analizlərdən sonra Bessie sağlamlığının təhlükədə olduğunu anlayır. Həkimi tərəfindən ona leykemiya diaqnozu qoyulur. Onun yeganə xilas yolu qan qohumu olan birindən sümük iliyi köçürülməsidir.
