Primm ailəsi Nyu-Yorka köçəndə, kiçik oğulları Josh yeni məktəbinə və dostlarına uyğunlaşmaqda çətinlik çəkir. Lakin bütün bunlar Josh-un çardaqda mahnı oxumağı, çimməyi, kürünü və gözəl musiqini sevən Timsah Tim-i kəşf etməsi ilə dəyişir. Bu ikili dərhal dost olur, lakin pis qonşuları cənab Grumps Tim-in varlığını təhlükəyə atanda, Primm ailəsi və Tim-in xarizmatik sahibi Hector P. Valenti birləşməli olurlar. Onlar dünyaya ailələrin gözlənilməz yerlərdə bir araya gələ biləcəyini və mahnı oxuyan mehriban bir timsahın tamamilə normal olduğunu sübut etməlidirlər.
