İtalyan kinosunun yaşayan ən böyük rejissoru Bernardo Bertoluççinin bir çox tənqidçilər tərəfindən bəyənilməyən filmi. Lama Norbu (Ruocheng Ying) Buddistlərin ruhani liderinin vəfatından sonra, reinkarnasiya nəticəsində Buddanın ruhunun bir uşağa keçəcəyinə inanır. O, Hindistandan bir qız, Sietldan amerikalı balaca Cessi (Alex Wiesendanger) və Katmandudan bir oğlan uşağını götürərək müqəddəs Butan şəhərinə yola düşür. Burada əsl Kiçik Buddanın kim olduğu məlum olacaq.
