Composure jurnalının “Necə etməli” rubrikasının yazarı Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson) qarşısında qısa müddətdə yerinə yetirməli olduğu qeyri-adi bir tapşırıq var. O, qadınların münasibətlərdə etdiyi və kişilərin qaçmasına səbəb olan səhvləri şəxsən təcrübədən keçirib yazmalıdır. Bunun üçün cəmi 10 günü var. Bu müddət ərzində birini tapmalı, onu özünə aşiq etməli, sonra isə klassik flört səhvləri ilə onu özündən bezdirməlidir. Bu tapşırıq üçün hədəf seçdiyi reklamçı Benjamin Barry-nin (Matthew McConaughey) vəziyyəti isə daha maraqlıdır. O da öz müdiri ilə mərcə girib və istədiyi qadını 10 gün ərzində özünə aşiq edə biləcəyini iddia edir.
