Qısaca Hitch kimi tanınan Alex Hitchens, Nyu-Yorkda yaşayan məşhur bir "eşq həkimi"dir. Özünəməxsus "reseptləri" ilə saysız-hesabsız kişiyə kömək edib. Onun sayəsində bir çox kişi xəyalındakı qadının qəlbini fəth edib. Bir gün, Allegra Cole adlı gözəl ulduza vurulmuş utancaq mühasib Albert ondan kömək istəyir. Hitch ilk dəfə çətinliyə düşür. Yolu, Allegra-nın arxasınca düşən gözəl və ağıllı qeybət yazarı Sara Melas ilə kəsişəndə isə ilk dəfə aşiq olur. Halbuki, Sara-nın niyyəti Hitch-in maskasını düşürməkdir. "Aşk Doktoru", Will Smith və Eva Mendes kimi adları romantik komediyada birləşdirən bir ekran işidir. ABŞ-da nümayiş olunduğu andan etibarən kassa rekordları qıraraq, bu janrdakı filmlərdə görünməmiş bir uğura imza atdı; bizdən deməsi.
