Kristofer Lamberin canlandırdığı keçmiş hərbçi Con Brennik və həyat yoldaşı Karen, gələcəyin ABŞ-ında tətbiq olunan "bir uşaq" siyasətini pozduqlarına görə həbs olunurlar. İlk övladlarını itirdikdən sonra yenidən hamilə qalan Karen ilə birlikdə, dünyanın ən müasir həbsxanası olan "Fortress"ə göndərilirlər. Yerin 30 mərtəbə altında inşa edilən bu həbsxana, məhbusların bədəninə yerləşdirilən "intestinator" cihazları və qaçışın qeyri-mümkün olduğu dizaynı ilə məşhurdur. Brennik öz günahsızlığını sübut etmək və ailəsini xilas etmək üçün bu texnoloji cəhənnəmdən qaçmağa çalışacaq.
