Julia Rabia, Milvokidəki kosmopolit həyatına bir müddət ara vermək istəyir. Bu məqsədlə o, orta məktəb müəllimi kimi işləmək üçün Şimali Dakotanın Reyqan dövrünün ənənələrinə sadiq qalan Owl qəsəbəsinə yollanır. Lakin kiçik qəsəbə ikinci dərəcəli şairlərin, gizli ehtiraslı Marlboro kişilərinin və orta məktəb illərini xatırladan sosial iyerarxiyanın hökm sürdüyü bir məkana çevrildikdə, Julia bura şəhərdən qaçmaq üçün, yoxsa öz evini tapmaq üçün gəldiyini anlaya bilmir.
