Florida-da qızmar yay istisinin hökm sürdüyü bir vaxtda, bacarıqsız və tənbəl vəkil Ned Racine varlı və evli bir qadın olan Matty Walker ilə tanış olur. Qadın düşkünü olan Ned qısa müddətdə Matty ilə eşq macərasına başlayır. Lakin Matty-nin məkrli bir planı var: o, varlı ərindən qurtulub onun sərvətinə sahib olmağı qarşısına məqsəd qoyub. Bu iş üçün isə o, sadəlövh Ned-dən istifadə edəcək.
